History

One of Campbell County’s newest recreation areas, Timbrook Park, located off Leesville Road in Lynchburg, VA, is a favorite among local families. The park features a handicap-accessible playground, baseball and softball fields, pavilions, fishing opportunities, walking trails, and soccer and tennis courts. The beautiful Timberlake Tavern is also located in the park and is a popular spot for family photos and celebrations.

The second oldest park in the area is Riverside Park at 2238 Rivermont Avenue, one of the city’s most popular spots for kids and adults to enjoy the outdoors. The park includes a train-themed Play Core playground and the Sprayground water play park, a ground-level ADA-accessible attraction that opened in 2010 and features water spouts, fish that spray water, and cascading waterfalls funded by the Junior League of Lynchburg.

Miller Park in midtown Lynchburg, VA at 2100 Park Avenue is another popular park that offers plenty of outdoor activities for families.
